Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy
Synthesis: A Multidisciplinary Research Journal is committed to cultivating a scholarly environment that upholds the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility throughout all stages of the publication process. We recognize that fostering inclusive practices strengthens research quality, enhances innovation, and broadens the global relevance of the work we publish.
Editorial and Peer Review Practices
Synthesis is dedicated to ensuring that its editorial and peer review processes reflect fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.
-
We strive to maintain an editorial board and reviewer community that represents diversity in discipline, geography, gender, ethnicity, and institutional affiliation.
-
Editorial decisions are based strictly on scholarly merit. No form of discrimination—whether based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, disability, age, or institutional background—is tolerated.
-
Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively and respectfully, upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
Inclusive Language Expectations
Authors are expected to employ inclusive, respectful, and non-discriminatory language in all submitted work.
-
Biased, derogatory, or exclusionary terminology—especially in reference to gender, ethnicity, disability, or other personal characteristics—must be avoided.
-
When reporting demographic variables (e.g., sex, gender, age, ethnicity), authors should follow established ethical standards such as those provided by ICMJE, APA, or other relevant guidelines.
-
Clear and sensitive communication supports both ethical research and the integrity of scholarly dialogue.
Commitment to Global Inclusion
Synthesis is dedicated to supporting a globally diverse scholarly community.
-
We encourage submissions from underrepresented regions, emerging research communities, and authors working in multilingual contexts.
-
The journal works to minimize barriers to publication and is especially committed to supporting scholars from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
-
Where possible, we may provide guidance or support to authors navigating language, resource, or accessibility constraints.
Accountability and Continuous Improvement
We continually review our policies and practices to ensure alignment with the evolving principles of equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Feedback from authors, reviewers, and readers is welcomed as part of our ongoing effort to foster a more inclusive and supportive academic culture.
